FES project for Nijmegen and Wageningen

Prof. Peter Hermans (Department of Paediatrics, RUNMC) and Prof. Han Zuilhof (Wageningen University) have received a FES project grant of 8.5 M€.

In collaboration with the Royal Tropical Institute and three biotechnology partners, the researchers intend to develop an electronic platform for high throughput and real-time detection of biomarkers for inflammation. Peter Hermans: "This innovative technology is expected to be revolutionary, as it will pave the way towards real-time, detailed diagnosis of infectious diseases and will assist in optimal tuning of therapy. As such this technology is expected to contribute to tailored [personalized] therapy of infections."
