East Netherlands stretches nearly from the middle of the country to its border with Germany in the east. This central location connects powerful economic regions in the West of the Netherlands with the German Ruhr area, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe and the southern European industrial areas of Munich and Milan. East Netherlands has an outstandingly developed infrastructure, smoothly connecting roadways, rail traffic and waterways.
It is only a short distance from Amsterdam Airport (Schiphol), Airport Münster-Osnabrück (FMO), Düsseldorf International and Airport Weeze.
The arrival of the Betuwe Route (freight rail) and the High Speed Line rail links in the east of the country ensures even more efficient transportation: a connection from London to Berlin through East Netherlands.
Cost effective bulk transport over water, through the Rhine, or an extensive system of canals and waterways, with the Combi Terminal Twente in Hengelo as one of the largest in-land container terminals.
