East Netherlands uniquely combines competitive, high-tech research and commerce with very close access to superb natural settings and recreational opportunities. Large green areas include the forests of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and Nationaal Park De Hoge Veluwe (Northwestern Europe's biggest nature reserve). The grand Veluwe lakes and the wonderful Rijn and Waal river landscapes are very close by as well.
East Netherlands also offers access to a rich cultural life. With Amsterdam's world-renowned theater, music and art venues all within easy grasp, many options for experiencing culture are even closer to home, including the Kröller-Müller Museum with its acclaimed art collection right in the middle of a nature reserve. Major cities like Nijmegen, Arnhem and Utrecht feature hundreds of ways to encounter creativity, as scores of young artists and entrepreneurs-such as fashion designers Victor & Rolf-have shown.
East Netherlands offers excellent living environments for expatriates and their families from all over the world. The region has five international airports an hour or less away and 23 international or bilingual schools. Thanks to the presence of many global technology players, the region is also home to extensive expat communities from more than 150 countries and regions. A dedicated Expat Desk offers foreign employees and their families support right upon arrival.
