Hitachi Data Systems, a part of the Japanese company Hitachi Ltd., has recently opened a 30,000 m2 new location in Zaltbommel. This space will be used for assembly and configuration of data storage systems. From here the systems will be tested then distributed to clients throughout Europe, the Middle-East and Africa. Hitachi delivers not only the hardware, but also the software and provides associated services.
This new building fits in the philosophy of Hitachi for sustainable buildings. This facility is one of the first in the Netherlands to receive the BREEAM Certificate of “Very Good.” BREEAM is the world’s leading design and assessment method for sustainable buildings. This rating is equivalent to a 3 on a scale of 0 - 5.
It is expected that the number of jobs will roughly double in the coming years, from the current 180 to more than 300.
The city of Zaltbommel offered Hitachi an excellent location from which to realize their goals for growth. Oost NV, together with the NFIA, provided pertinent information regarding the fiscal and logistic advantages of the Netherlands in comparison with other countries in Europe.
On request of the NFIA, Oost NV has been also delivering the “Current Investor Development” program. This is a program in which project managers from Oost NV visit, on an annual basis, roughly 50 foreign companies with a location in East Netherlands. The goal of the program is to maintain the current companies in the region. In this way we can optimally support their plans for growth and expansion.
