Training systems

MobiHealth - Lode

Patients with chronic lung disease (COPD) benefit enormously from being physically active. Unfortunately, strenuous physical activity often leads to shortness of breath. Breaking out of this vicious circle can be done only by increasing the patient’s lung capacity.

MobiHealth BV (Enschede) and Lode BV (Groningen) have together developed a home trainer especially designed for these patients. The user is able to build his or her physical condition while at the same time measuring important bodily functions, such as heart rate and the oxygen content in the blood. This allows the patient to regulate their physical activity at home while at the same time wirelessly transmitting the information to a physical therapist. The therapist is then able to make adjustments to the patient’s training schedule.

Cooperation

Oost NV, together with Knowledge Park Twente, played a crucial role in bringing together the two partners, MobiHealth and Lode. Additionally, MobiHealth is making use of the European innovation fund Interreg 4A subsidy “Mechatronica for SME.”
